Our origin is the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) and with it a lot of know-how that makes us courageous to tackle big ideas in a savvy and targeted way.

Our History

Our founders of ENIT literally met in the laboratory. Scientific research at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) eventually gave rise to our powerful idea: to develop a new type of monitoring and control system tailored to the needs of medium-sized companies.

Our founders Pascal Benoit, Simon Fey and Hendrik Klosterkemper brought this idea to market maturity and founded ENIT in 2014 - with the know-how of Fraunhofer ISE. At the beginning of 2015, Kai Klapdor from Becker Büttner Held joined the team. In 2020, Hendrik and Simon left the operational business for private reasons.

Over the past few years, we at ENIT have been able to create the trust and the necessary corporate insights through partnership-based cooperation with our industrial clients to go even further: the next steps towards decarbonising industry. Through partnerships with PV project developers, green power suppliers and battery storage providers, we are growing together with our customers.

At ENIT, we have already received many awards for our forward-looking approach and technology. In addition to several federal ministries and the state of Baden-Württemberg, we have also been funded by the EU for years.

Our team currently consists of about 25 employees and is mainly located in sunny Freiburg.

Our vision generators

Kai Klapdor (co-CEO) holds a degree in industrial engineering and has been working in the energy industry since 2007. Prior to ENIT, he worked at E.ON Hanse, Fraunhofer ISE and the energy law firm BBH.

Kai privately supports the organizations Sea Shepherd, Finanzwende and a satirical organization. As an avid swimmer, he regularly stands at the starting line for all kinds of triathlon distances and loves to play speed-chess or tackle various projects while playing good electro sets.

Pascal Benoit (co-CEO) holds a degree in electrical engineering and information technology. The challenges of the energy transition have always been his professional motivation. Thus, he specialized in renewable energy generation during his studies and started his professional career at Fraunhofer ISE.

Pascal loves to compete with our cycling team on his racing bike in his free time - even if he is not quite as fast as he used to be as a young family father. He is also involved in the volunteer fire department in Freiburg.
